Po is the name of village next to our shelter in the city of Gimpo. It was an illegal dog slaughterhouse that went on for 25 years. 23 puppies were surrendered to Nami on the 17th January.

"I named the rescue "Po" after the village name. The butcher wants money for the release of the dogs. Those hidden at the back turned out all puppies not big adult aggressive dogs. He won't budge at all even with the three fines total comes up to $800 He is charged under the violation of waste management and no livestock license, my last card is to report tax office as dog meat sale (both wholesale and retail) is strictly cash business"

The butcher has been breeding, slaughtering and selling the dogs, used to be over 100 average number of dogs in the city of Gimpo, not far from our shelter in out shelter. We came to know about its existence when the butcher wanted to quit. We, as a team went out and saved 11 of them​.

"Instant clinic with Dr.Han again after the Po rescue in January. I named the Friday rescue after the village name "Lake" although there is no lakes in the town. 7 are spayed/neutered today. The puppies cry for mama. I will have to go again and search for the mom..."

He's been supplying Tosa to Tosa fight rings, we tried to follow him a couple of times as the city official needs a proof. We saved Chow Chow and her 6 pups and Tosa w just born 6 pups total 21 one tosa pup was found dead...."

"I named the rescue "Songma" after the village name. I think I have dealt with more than 100 butchers last seven years. This is how most butchers end up. Poor old man. I asked him how many dogs he slaughtered for last 45 years. He can't hear, he needs a hearing aid. According to the young man (his neighbor) none of his children, no neighbors coming to see him. They all get their karma in the end. He promised me again in written that he will keep the dogs for me to take two by two until the last one. He may want to do one good deed by letting all the dogs go this time..."

"New rescue planned for this Saturday. The butcher is surrendering all the remaining 50 dogs. Our shelter is full, we have several local rescue groups working together to relocate them. 50 dogs will be released and we are all set. Jess Abella Gilroy and myself rescued 16 last July 2018. Darwin was the last one flown out. I am getting emotional (and I believe Jess Abella Gilroy feels the same) as it took 8 months to shut this down. Team 911 and SKD worked together to make the authorities to take action. Its the red tapes that took us this long for the removal order. More story on the rescue...."

"I am taking a few of Yangsan dogs today, see what Lady Moo did again. I will take them all if I can secure a home for each, 5 puppies and 10 white Jindo about 10 - 16 months. I can only do basic vaccinations, deworming, spay/neuter. I can not afford heartworm treatment till Sept. Three big size are going to be under treatment from Monday. It kills our budget every month....."

One group of activists down south of the peninsular shut down a dog farm, total over 60 dogs were surrendered May 2019. The group went to a little park near national assembly to protest with the dogs. They did not have any places to relocate them. SKD shelter was more than full but decided to take a few of them....

Going out to get them this morning, need to travel hours to Eastern part of Seoul.
The background story goes with heartless owner. They've been dumped! These two were found tied at a dog farm with 500 + dogs in Gapyeong.
The butcher is saying "Come and take them, I don't slaughter pet dogs"

Through my search with the address, this particular dog farm is legally operated, equipped with all, such as livestock farming license, sewerage/disposal facilities..."

Po Village is not far from SKD shelter, this rescue was 2nd one from the same place. The butcher signed the agreement January 2019 and released 23 dogs to Nami. The agreement specifies that the butcher will never keep dogs again but he was breeding puppies for the Boknal again. This is why we need to keep our eyes on those (gave up or shut down) and monitor.

Nami confiscated the dogs under the agreement, took four dogs from him. After a week Rudy joined Nami and pulled the new dogs again. Nami saved six from Po Village rescue 2.

"A dog farm right next to the meat dogs auction site. The owner is an old man selling the dogs to the auction when they become 10 months.
The owner is considering moving to another city with the dogs.
The auction bhilding will be shut down in a month.
30 dogs mostly big size Tosa Hound. Some of them seem very traumatized. I can't afford to do this as no resources to pay the butcher and the vet bills but inviting you to come and negotiate with the meat trader. I offer you free boarding.

"Another success story of team work, ARK (Animal Rescue Korea) 119 and SaveKoreanDogs worked together to save these 13 dogs 1st week of Sept. The dog trader was so afraid of city officials visiting his dog farm and willing to surrender the 11 puppies and a white jindo boy but not the mom. The dog trader had the mom hidden somewhere else. ARK 119 and the activists managed to convince the dog trader and finally identified the mom in another location. The old man operates from two locations and the mom was brought to SKD shelter and had a little reunion with her 11 puppies.

"Last day of the dog meat restaurant in our neighbor. No more dog meat in the menu, the cages are being torn down.
I could do this with a big help from our town office Mr.Seok...."

"With the assistance of our town office, we took two in the video. The old man wants to keep one as guard dog. Both have an appointment with Dr.Dee late afternoon today.
This little one in the bird cage knows that once taken out never come back thats the last day of the dog. This is why they resist to the helping hands..."

"Yangju City (eastern part of Seoul) is famous for its puppy mills. This is one illegal puppy mill without a license, not authorized by the city. The owner/breeder received a removal order together with fine notice last week. The owner is an old man, he wants to sell them all but we don't buy dogs. With our partner ARK(Animal Rescue Korea)119 in presence, we finalized and came to an agreement that we are going to pay his fine to the city. Dr. Han will take 10 from here for local adoption and a couple of local activists will take 2 or 3 out of total 53. They are French Bulldog, Pomerarian, Shar pie, Poodle, Maltese, Jack Russel terrier. I will end up with 40 from here but I don't have the funds to take care of the medical needs. I need your help. Our USA Foundation will set up a fundraiser for this rescue..."

"From one location to another, we saved 12 yesterday. Thanks dog it was sunny when it had been so stormy and managed to get all the 12 before it got dark"..."

"SunSun is a big rescuer of our team who covers Eastern part of Seoul. Nami and SunSun together with ARK 119 went on a rescue of 12 dogs this winter. These are the dogs left behind from the time of summer Boknal consumption total 12 of them. SunSun has been feeding the dogs in the Gapyeng County, managed to convinced the owners and Nami took them in.
